Nestled amongst granitic rock formations along West Vancouver's rugged coastline, this home overlooks the Salish Sea. To acknowledge its natural setting, the home's exterior is finished with split face concrete blocks for its colour and texture. As a finish material, concrete has intrinsic qualities of energy efficiency, fire resistance, moisture management, and ease of maintenance. This exterior finish continues into the home to help connect it to the outdoors.

A colour palette was inspired from nature – rocks and conifers offer cooler shades of green, grey, and white; autumn leaves, spring flowers, and summer sunsets presented complementary colours. Large roof overhangs on the home's south and west aspects provide shelter from the rain, and helps control solar gain and glare while enabling natural daylighting to reach deep into the home.
